This is the first time I've seen someone trace Ayn Rand back to Nietzsche in such a clear way.
This is remarkable, because Rand herself used to downplay Nietzsche's influence on her work. But "The Fountainhead" is really just an exercise in making Nietzsche's ideas come to life, in a setting of technology.
Rand wrote about an architect - but programming is today's architecture. The close link between the two domains is shown in the book "A Pattern Language", which, though a book about architecture, turned out to become a cornerstone for the "agile" software movement (and the prototype for Wikipedia, among other things).
