The Tesla stores of furniture? It’s so funny. People used to say, “Nobody is going to buy shoes online without having physically seen them”. They used to say the same thing about cars. And they used to say the same thing about furniture. Apparently it took a worldwide pandemic for people to realize: Buying stuff online works pretty darn well.

In fact, it might even be safer than buying it in person. I bought a used car online without having seen it firsthand a couple of years ago. Then it turned out it had a couple of issues, with the air conditioning, and other things. Had I purchased it in person, the seller could’ve argued that I had bought the car “as is“. But since I had never seen it, all we had was the contract and the ad. And none of them had listed these issues. Hence, the seller had to cover the repairs.

People being afraid of buying stuff online had been an irrational fear. Covid has forced them to face this fear. And now that they have done so, it is disappearing everywhere.
